COVID19 Safety Plan

Page last updated: Saturday 7th January 2022 at 3:00 pm

This page details the steps we are taking, our COVID19 Safety Plan to ensure the continued safe operation of our services during the COVID19 pandemic and will be updated as requirements/recommendations change.
COVID19 Safety Plan

Southern Illawarra Church of Christ (Southern Church) is committed to the safety of our church and the public through compliance with NSW Government requirements and additional measures. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us to discuss.

Calderwood Services resume on 12th December 2021

Calderwood Services from 12th December 2021 Onwards

In order to maintain safety for everyone attending on Sundays, we are required to comply with the Southern Church COVID Safe plan as approved by NSW Health. In order to maintain the health and wellbeing of our congregation, we need everyone to work together with the following:

  • Anyone with cold/flu symptoms, no matter how minor should refrain from attending services and get tested for COVID19.
  • The Southern Church NSW Health-approved COVID19 Safe plan requires attendees to have a temperature check on arrival. If a person’s temperature is high (above 37.5C) they will be asked to not attend the service, or be willing to refrain from physical contact with others attending on the day, wear a mask at all times, and accept seating a safe distance from others.
  • People need to be mindful of others’ personal boundaries and respect their preferences to refrain from physical contact. Ask before hugging, shaking hands, etc.
  • People are free to wear masks without fear of intimidation or criticism – it is your personal choice.
  • Be aware some of our church family have serious underlying health conditions and may not welcome certain physical interactions or choose not to participate in some activities. Please respect their choices.

A “Higher Safety” Area

The Leadership Board have met with members of our congregation who have expressed a need for an area to be set aside with higher safety precautions in order for them to comfortably, and safely attend services from the 12th of December onwards. To accommodate this request a “higher safety” area will be made available to anyone who wants or needs it provided they can satisfy the following conditions:

  1. Anyone seated in the higher safety area must be fully vaccinated (minimum two doses).
  2. A mask covering the mouth and nose must be worn at all times when seated in the higher safety area.
  3. No singing in the higher safety area.
  4. People in the higher safety area will refrain from physical interactions with others in the same area, unless they are from the same household.

If this is something you would like to take advantage of, please reach out to Stephen. To avoid bottle-necks on Sundays, the Leadership Board would like anyone wanting to use the higher safety area to share their vaccination status etc, with Stephen so we can “pre-screen” people to use the area without needing to provide vaccination details on the day etc.

Southside Youth

Southside Youth is now meeting again as previously with some additional requirements:
